Corticosteroid Injection

Overview

Many people throughout their lives are faced with different types of scarring. Except the air-brushedmodels that you see in magazines, you would be hard pressed to find someone who does not have a fewscars on his or her body. After all, the skin is sensitive, and taking care of our skin to keep it from ever being damaged can be a challenge. The good news is that the use of steroids can have an affect on scarring and scar appearances. Corticosteroid injection therapy can quickly reduce the scar and inflammation. The scar reduction usually occurs a day or so after treatment.

The steroid blends with the skin and mixes in with the scar tissue to in effect heal the skin. The scar is then reduced and flattened so to speak which will then in turn make it much less prominent on the body. You will not notice the scar nearly as much after the area has had a steroid injection.
