Avanti Skin Center of Denver
At Avanti Skin Center of Denver, we’re pleased to offer you the best
in laser hair removal and skin care treatment. We want you to feel comfortable
telling us what you want to change about your appearance…and we’ll
tell you how we can do it. We have state-of-the-art lasers, medical-grade
treatments, and a caring staff of skin care specialists who are registered
nurses, licensed aestheticians, and knowledgeable administrative assistants…yet

Mauricio Mejia, M.D., Medical Director, Owner
Dr. Mauricio Mejia, along with his wife Cynthia, founded Avanti Skin Center
of Denver in 2007. A board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Mejia is on
staff at Rose Medical Center, Presbyterian-St.Lukes Hospital, St. Joseph
Hospital, and other Denver metro area hospitals.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical-Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He completed a pediatric internship at Stanford University Medical Center, a pediatric ICU rotation at Harvard University Medical Center, and an Emergency Medicine Rotation at Hospital Universitario del Valle (in Cali, Columbia). He performed his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Mejia is a member of the American Society For Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).
Born in St. Louis and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Mejia enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, and working out. In November 2008, he’ll travel to Panama to participate in “Operation Walk,” a charitable mission. Over the course of a week, he and a team of medical professionals will perform as many as fifty orthopedic surgeries.
Cynthia Mejia, Office Manager, Owner
Cynthia,
along with her husband Dr. Mauricio Mejia, opened Avanti Skin Center of
Denver in 2007. She manages Avanti, overseeing all of the day-to-day operations.
With six years of experience in health care, Cynthia founded Avanti because
she wanted “to improve people’s
self-esteem, to help match their outside beauty with their inside beauty.”
Born and raised in Dallas, Cynthia received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is certified in Cutera (which is the manufacturer of our laser equipment) and the Image Skin Care line. She’s also received a Laser Safety Certification and is a member of the Aesthetics Procedures Institute.
Away from the office, Cynthia enjoys taking her two-year-old son Sebastian to the library, museums, and the botanical gardens. She also loves to go dancing with her husband.Memberships
